cm-super-minimal software package provides TeX font package (minimal version) with CM/EC in Type1 in T1, T2*, TS1, X2 enc, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install cm-super-minimal
cm-super-minimal is installed in your system.
Make ensure the cm-super-minimal package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep cm-super-minimal *
You will get with cm-super-minimal package name, version, architecture and description in a table
